What is Viing?

Do I have to create an account to use Viing?
No, you do not need to register an account in order to contribute towards an occasion. Registering will enable you to view all your historic contributions an make changes to your written message. If you'd like to organise a group gift, you'll need to register for an account in order to manage your occasion.

I'd like to contribute - What do I need to do??
Click on the URL link that the organiser has shared with you and choose how much you would like to contribute. Once you have paid into the pot, you can also leave your message for the card.

Will others see how much I have contributed?
The message you leave for the occasion will be visible to everyone who has access to the occasion's unique URL link. Contributed amounts however are hidden. The total money pot will always show a live balance of the total collected.

Is there a minimum contribution amount?
Generally, the minimum contribution amount is £1. The occasion may however be set up by the organiser to make contirbutions optional

Can I amend my mesages once it has been submitted?
Yes, if you have registered with an account you’ll be able to log into your account and amend your message via the occasion page.

Is my contribution refundable?
Refunds are generally not offered. In exceptional circumstances, we may be able to offer a refund (processing fee of 5% would be deducted from refunded amount). These must be before the occasion deadline and before the organiser withdraws the money pot. After this point, refunds are strictly not possible.

How do I know my contribution has registered?
A message at the end of the process confirms your contribution has registered. You will also receive an email receipt to confirm your contribution.

Do I have to create an account to use Viing?
If you would like to organise a card or collection for an occasion, you will need to register with Viing in order to set up and manage your occasion. Contributors will however be able to contribute towards the occasion in without creating an account.

Is there a minumum number of contributions?
Viing is designed for group gifting, we do require that every occasion has a minimum of 3 contributions by the end of their occasion. If your occasion hasn't reached the minimum, you will have the option to extend your occasion or request that l contributions be refunded. Refunds are processed via Stripe UK. Please note there is a 5% administration fee for all refunds, which is deducted from the amount returned. Please note it can take up to 12 business days from the day the refund is processed for the funds to appear in the original cardholder's account.

Can I have several occasions open at the same time?
Absolutely. You will be able to manage each occasion via your account dashboard. If you invite friends via Viing, we will also help you to keep track of who has and hasn't contributed and send automated reminders on your behalf.

How many friends can participate to the money pot?
There is no limit to the number of participants. The more the merrier!

How can I help to get more contributions?
You could start the ball rolling by contributing first and simply sharing the occasions URL link with others.

How does Viing chase on my behalf? How does the reminder service work?
If you invite people via Viing, each person will receive a reminder a couple of days before the deadline and on the day of the occasion deadline.

What is the deadline for?
The deadline exists to motivate people to contribute on time and helps the organiser to manage the occasion. The organiser can amend the deadline at any point. When the deadline hits, this is when the organiser can log in and complete the occasion by choosing. how to use the money and messages collected.

Can I change the occasion deadline?
Simply log into your account and find your occasion on the dashboard or by clicking ‘my occasions’. From there, simply click 'Extend'.

Can I make contributions optional?
Yes - this can be selected when you set up your occasion or by clicking ‘Settings’ - ‘General’ - ‘Optional Contributions’.

What happens when the deadline hits?
Log into your account Dashboard and find your occasion. There you will see a 'withdraw' button. You will be taken through the steps to spend the money collected.

Can I plan a gift from outside the UK?
Not at this time. But you can invite contributors who live outside of the UK.

Can the recipient be outside the UK?
We can only arrange bank transfers to a UK bank account and the beneficiary must live in the UK and must be available to provide us with any additional forms of identification should we or our banks require. We can arrange international delivery for the greetings card. Please email us at hi@viing.co.uk.

Could I use Viing just for the card service and not the gift?
Yes! Our service is flexible to meet your group’s needs.

Is the greetings card compulsory?
The greetings card is an optional extra we offer. We believe it is a nice, easy way to add a personal touch to a group gift so that your recipient knows exactly who to thank.

Can I cancel my occasion?
Please drop us an email to hi@viing.co.uk. If the occasion hasn’t ended or been withdrawn, all contributions can be refunded. Refunds are processed via Stripe UK. Please note there is a 5% administration fee for all refunds and it can take up to 12 business days from the day the refund is processed for the funds to appear in the original cardholder's account. What options do I have for spending the money collected?
You can use the funds collected on a combination of the following:
- - Group greetings card - E-Voucher - John Lewis, Virgin Experience Days
- - Carefully Selected gifts
- - Bank Transfer (4% deducted from your occasion money pot)

How do I select a greetings card? Is this selected at the end of the occasion?
Yes, when your deadline hits, simply log into you account and click 'withdraw'. You'll then be take through the steps to select a card design and choose how you wish to spend the money collected.

Is the card a physical card? Do you offer an ecard option?
We offer printed and posted greetings cards that can either be sent to the organiser with an extra envelope, or direct to the recipient. We also now offer eCards, which will be emailed to the organiser within 24 hours.

Can I arrange a group card to collect messages only with no collection?
Absolutely. When setting up your occasion click 'card only'. Your occasion will then simply request contributors to 'sign' the card. Payment for the cards in a 'card only' occasion is taken at the end when your deadline hits. Simply log into your account and next to your occasion, click 'complete' - here you will be able to select your card and pay by any standard method.

How much does the greetings card cost?
We currently offer two greetings card sizes; Small 7x5" and a larger A4 card. Small cards cost £4 and large cards cost £7 + £1.50 postage for 1st Class Royal Mail. Express delivery can also be selected for a premium fee.

Do you offer international delivery?
This is not yet part of our standard service, however, in most cases, we can accommodate international delivery for an additional postage fee.Delivery times and postage fees may vary. If you would like to request international delivery, please drop us an email at hi@viing.co.uk

How long does it take for the card and gift(s) to arrive?
We recommend planning a week for the card and any gifts to arrive, allowing for any postal delays. Greetings cards and gifts generally take 2 business days for processing and are then posted by 1st Class Royal Mail. Please note that products may arrive separately and at different times.

What happens if I have too many messages to fit onto one greetings card?
Our large A4 cards fit a surprisingly high number of messages. However, if we are unable to fit all the messages in our large card, we will get in touch to advise on the options we can offer at the time.

How long does it take for bank transfers?
Bank transfers generally take 2 business days to appear in the recipient’s account. Please note that if additional checks are required it may take longer and we may request additional photo identification prior to releasing the funds.

What does the recipient get?
The recipient can either receive the cash transferred directly into their account, a gift voucher, or a gift chosen by the organiser.
The recipient will also receive a physical greetings card. This can either be sent directly to their door or sent to the organiser first (with an extra envelope). -
Can I exchange my Viing gift for something else?
Unfortunately, once gifts have been purchased they are strictly non-refundable.

Is my payment safe & secure?

I see there is an option to save payment details - is this safe?
Your card details are 100% secure and managed entirely by Stripe UK. Your payment details do not hit Viing’s servers at any point.

How much does it cost?
It’s free to create a Viing account, start a whip-round and collect money from friends.
When it’s time to spend the money pot you have a number of options:
- - Spend it on one of our selection of gifts or vouchers, which is FREE
- - Transfer the money directly into a UK bank account: (4%. This is to cover transaction costs and enables us to continue offering our service.
